IECEx Heating Elements Ex db IIB T4 Gb

IECEx (Explosion proof, flameproof) immersion heating elements for distilling with 2″ triclamp ferrule built-in for easy installation. These are required when your distilling area has been classified as a Zone 1 or Zone 2 Hazardous Area.  The certification requires that a temperature cut off system is in palce that shuts the element down above an appropriate setting.  The temperature sensor and associated relay are built into the IECEx heating elements and must be wired to something like a contactor to which the power supply is connected (see photos).

Each element will be custom made so there is a longish lead time, and shipping takes ages too, so allow 3 months.  Elements can be wired single or three phase and need to have the thermostat connected to something like a contactor to shut the power down.  Almost any power from 2kW to 16kW.  The price will be the same for all sizes for now as most of the cost is in the Ex certification.

Elements are not wired and must be wired on site by an electrician with hazardous area training. Please note that only IECEx certified equipment is allowed in hazardous areas in Australia.  ATEX does not live up the Australian standard, apparently.  The requirements for IECEx certification are very onerous and so the price of certified equipment is always much higher than standard equipment.

Most distilleries will be assessed under AS60079.10.1 as Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous area and any electrical equipment in the zone boundary will be required to have an IECEx certification.
