EPDM food grade hoses

The hoses are EPDM which is excellent for alcohol and they are very robust with reinforcing fabric in the hose.  It is very difficult to find smaller sizes and most distilleries in Australia need 1/2″ (13mm) or 3/4″ (19mm) ID hoses.  I am a distiller myself and I use mostly 1/2″ hoses.  For pumping a whisky fermentation which is 300L per batch I use 3/4″ and it is done in good time.

I have 2 size fittings.  So far in Australia you can get a tri-clamp fitting that has an OD of 50.8mm and it is called by many names including 1.5″ TC and it is suited for pipes of 1.5″ and 1″ ID.  However, you can now get the fitting to suit even 3/4″ and 1/2″.  Most distilleries will have this size fitting.  The same clamp will connect two fittings no matter what the pipe size is, the fitting OD of 50.8mm remains the same.  I can make up the 3/4″ hoses with this fitting.

I also have a smaller fitting that is not available in Australia except here at HHH.  Let’s call it a 1″ TC or 25mm TC fitting.  It is way more convenient than the bigger version when using smaller pipes and I can make up an adapter to fit it onto the bigger fitting.  I can do the 3/4″ and 1/2″ hoses with this fitting.  The photo shows this 1″ TC fitting with an adapter connecting to the tank.

I crimp the fittings to the hoses, it is the best way to do it by far.  But it requires a big machine so you wouldn’t do this yourself unless you are crazy like me.

Each hose will connect to something like a tank, pump or bottling machine.  I have adapters for this in both sizes 1.5″ TC and 1″ TC and with 1/2″ and 3/4″ BSP threads on the other side.  This will suit most pumps and if not, you can get reducers from your local harware store.  On the photo is an adapter screwed into the pump.
